Equipment
Method
- Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the fresh asparagus pieces and cook for about 4 to 5 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in the shrimp, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Cook the shrimp for about 2 minutes on each side until pink and fully cooked. Avoid overcooking to help keep the shrimp tender and juicy.
- Add the remaining butter and fresh lemon juice, then gently stir everything together. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.
Notes
- Use fresh asparagus for the best texture and flavor. Fresh asparagus stays slightly crisp and works perfectly in skillet recipes.
- Pat the shrimp dry before cooking to help them brown better in the pan and avoid excess moisture.
- Avoid overcooking the shrimp. Shrimp cooks very quickly and usually needs about 2 minutes per side to stay tender and juicy.
- Fresh garlic gives the sauce a richer and more flavorful taste compared to garlic powder.
- Add fresh lemon juice at the end of cooking for a brighter and fresher flavor.
- This recipe pairs well with rice, pasta, mashed potatoes, crusty bread, or a glass of fresh lemon juice.
- For a slightly spicy version, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes while cooking.
