Equipment

  • Large nonstick skillet or cast-iron pan
  • Tongs for flipping shrimp easily
  • Garlic press or garlic mincer
  • Cutting Board

Method

  1. Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the fresh asparagus pieces and cook for about 4 to 5 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in the shrimp, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Cook the shrimp for about 2 minutes on each side until pink and fully cooked. Avoid overcooking to help keep the shrimp tender and juicy.
  4. Add the remaining butter and fresh lemon juice, then gently stir everything together. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use fresh asparagus for the best texture and flavor. Fresh asparagus stays slightly crisp and works perfectly in skillet recipes.
  • Pat the shrimp dry before cooking to help them brown better in the pan and avoid excess moisture.
  • Avoid overcooking the shrimp. Shrimp cooks very quickly and usually needs about 2 minutes per side to stay tender and juicy.
  • Fresh garlic gives the sauce a richer and more flavorful taste compared to garlic powder.
  • Add fresh lemon juice at the end of cooking for a brighter and fresher flavor.
  • This recipe pairs well with rice, pasta, mashed potatoes, crusty bread, or a glass of fresh lemon juice.
  • For a slightly spicy version, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes while cooking.
