Ingredients

  • 600 g ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 80 g breadcrumbs
  • 100 ml milk
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste. 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)



  • 🥔 For the mashed potatoes:

  • 800 g potatoes, peeled and cut
  • 40 g butter
  • 100 ml milk
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste




  • Healthy option (recommended):

  • Use lean ground beef or a beef/turkey mix.
  • Use low-fat milk for both the meatloaf and mashed potatoes.
  • Reduce the amount of butter in the mashed potatoes.



Execution

Prepare the potatoes: Boil the potatoes in salted water until very tender. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the meat mixture: In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika.

Shape and bake the meatloaf: Place the mixture in a baking dish and shape it into a loaf. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 40–45 minutes until cooked through.

Make the mashed potatoes: Mash the cooked potatoes with butter and milk until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper.
